How to Contact Me
This page outlines how I be contacted and the ways in which I prefer to be. I am always available to talk about consulting work. See Corvid Works for more information and drop me an email describing how I can help.
Currently, the best way to contact me is via email. Personal mail can be sent to kenn at this domain while business/consulting-related mail should be sent via my contact form. For maximum efficiency, please use the appropriate channel.
I may not check mail at all times throughout the day so if you have a time-sensitive issue or emergency, please contact me by Jabber or telephone.
Instant Messages
Short messages, such as URLs or things you want to bring to my attention, can be sent via Twitter or Jabber. My personal and business Jabber accounts are the same as the email addresses named above. Twitter is best left for one-off things; Twitter DMs should not be mistaken for actual one-to-one communication or instant messaging.
I am frequently logged in to Jabber but am equally frequently not able to talk. If I don't respond to your message, I'm probably busy and can't be interrupted. If you just have a quick question, don't ask if I'm busy, just ask your question and I'll respond if I can. If I don't respond, I'm either occupied or am not at my desk.
Short personal messages can be sent via SMS to my personal mobile phone number. SMS is better for time-sensitive messages when you don't know that I'm near my computer. I cannot receive SMS messages on my business line.
With any instant messaging protocol — SMS, Jabber, or Twitter direct message — let's try to keep the back-and-forth to a minimum in order to save time and increase efficiency.
Telephone
My regular office hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm US Pacific time (PST), Monday through Friday.
While I can usually take calls during this time, these hours vary a bit on a day-to-day basis, so business-related telephone calls are best scheduled in advance. This will allow me to ensure that I'm available and in an appropriate place to take a call. Because phone calls are almost always an interruption, please use email as your first form of contact. Emergencies are an exception, of course — feel free to call if one arises.
I can accept faxes but greatly prefer digital copies of documents (I'm just going to scan and shred your document anyway). If you have something that must be faxed, contact me for a fax number.
Voicemail
If I don't answer your call, I'm probably occupied or away from my phone. Unless it's an emergency, the next best thing to do in this case is usually to email me.
